Both Steven and Ippei were born in Japan, but were raised in Southern California.

I think for any immigrant growing up in America, like, um, you don't know what your identity really is because you look a certain way, so you look like an Asian, so people assume you're Japanese.

But then when you go to Japan, they're like, "Oh, you're from America.

You're American." So it's like, what am I really? And then, so you kind of have like this identity crisis a little bit.

And so maybe he picked a side, um, for Japanese during that time when we were kids.

Did he buy stuff?

He did, and I was like, "What are you gonna do with that?" [laughs] Like, "I don't know what you're gonna do with that." It would be the expensive kind, and then he would also, like, haggle a little bit too.

I remember he said he wanted an electric guitar.
