Our technology is so advanced that we're picking up disease so so early that's way beyond the classifications so we went to school we teach in schools classification of diabetic retinopathy side effects to diabetes but we're finding things that aren't on the classification such as micro aneurysms or changes in the caliper of the blood vessels which aren't even on the classification so how do you square that a lot of times
11:45
uh the papers and the classification of things needs to catch up with the technology.
11:51
For instance, when we have you come in the office and we put you in the slow lamp microscope and we use our condensing lenses and we shine those really annoying lights at people, We can pick up a certain magnification of a blood vessel and we can pick up, I've picked up microaneurysms in the past.
12:09
And I describe a microaneurysm as like a weakening of the wall in the vessel, just like you get a weakening in the wall of an old car tire.
12:18
And the car tire will be sitting there in the garage and I'll have this little bubble sitting on the side of it.
12:23
It's not out of air, it's not flat, but it's got this weakening so that the air inside the tire has forced the rubber to pull out in a little cyst.
12:31
That happens with blood vessels too.

18 MINS LATER

31:03
How does that affect the eye, and does it help decrease the risk of any eye issues?
5:23
Oh, my goodness.
5:24
And the next thing I know is we had what's called the SAG vehicle, which is the vehicle that rides next to the Peloton so that the cyclists in South Florida don't run into you.
5:33
So we have protection.
5:36
I see the SAG vehicle next to me, and I'm sitting on the floor when I wake up, laying on the floor.
5:41
So I push myself up, and I look over the SAG vehicle, which happens to be a white pickup truck.
5:48
And I'm sweating profusely.
5:49
I was just doing 35 miles an hour on South Florida, you know, summer day.
9:27
wow
