But before we really dive into that, let's talk about the number of red days in the system and how we might be able to address that.
S
4:19Steven AndersGUEST
There are more red days caused from the large amount of trip drops we've been seeing lately, um, especially from vacation and now training bid.
S
4:27Steven AndersGUEST
That has exasperated the issue, especially on weekends and especially in the junior captain bases as of late.
S
4:34Steven AndersGUEST
Um, all these drops are rolling right into monthly open time, and then they go to ELITT, so that uncovered flying is just really exasperating all these red days.
S
4:43Steven AndersGUEST
Uh, additionally, red eyes with the fourth domicile day are impacting the DTC limit by approximately one to two duties, give or take, just depending on, uh, the base.
S
4:56Steven AndersGUEST
Changing the formula could be considered, as we've discussed previously, to domicile day in that calculation, but it does have an effect, although it's minor.

So give me the overview of why things, uh, like line purity seem like a thing of days gone by.

And also something you mentioned there was adding bases without penalty, right? Previously, to my recollection, SWAPA has been in favor of adding more domiciles because it increases the amount of turns in two days that you can have in the system without having to get people all the way back across the country, right? So what are the pros and cons there?
S
17:02Steven AndersGUEST
So when I say without penalty, I meant more of like having swap oversight in the decision making process because it does have a lot of downstream effects.
S
17:10Steven AndersGUEST
We did see in the surveys, the blank sheets that pilots don't think new bases should be opened while pilots are currently displaced because it does exasperate the problem a little bit, just depending on where they add it into the network.
S
17:24Steven AndersGUEST
So we would like to see if the membership wants us to pursue some kind of new base or oversight process that SWAPA has to be involved in in order to make some tweaks as necessary for the vacancies.
S
17:38Steven AndersGUEST
Another thing that affects vacancies that we've discussed with the company recently is contractually, they have to maintain the line average TFP within three of each other, of each base.
S
17:49Steven AndersGUEST
And so the company, whenever they're producing the final production lines, if they have a large enough disparity, they have to balance that scale.

How does that flow into the desire for more turns in two days?
