Are those man-made chemicals and therefore should we default assume they're harmful?

I will take some palm oil, boil it up with a very powerful chemical called caustic soda, and then I will process it.

If I want to make a bio-based sulfate, as Ecover use, then I will take that fatty acid that I've made, and I will treat it with hydrogen and a nickel catalyst and convert it into an alcohol, and then I will react it with sulfuric acid and make a sulfate.

All in chemical plants.

So everything we use in bio or non-bio or eco or whatever are made in large chemical plants.

They are all chemicals.

So how, quote, "sustainable" do you feel that these eco brands are?
