So, Steve, what happened to Ben?
2:08
Yeah, hi, Dana.
2:10
Look, Ben passed away when he was, I think, 12.
2:15
And we as a family had become comfortable in the knowledge that he was going to live a long life after we got through the early hurdles of it, the early stages of his life.
2:26
And we really thought that he'd be with us forever.
2:28
And we used to talk about our little boy growing old with us and what we would do in terms of safety nets for when we were too old and frail to pick him up and put him in his wheelchair.
2:40
And he got into that early kind of adolescent life where he was getting big and I had to do all of the manual stuff.

23:53
How did you guys reunite? How did that happen over the years?
15:19
We are having
15:20
coffee.
15:20
We would go out to Navita with half a dozen families and I'd meet up with the other mums and we'd put our kids on the ground and we'd sing, you know, come with us and gallop.
15:28
Yeah.
15:30
We do all the, you know, the songs.
15:32
Yeah.
15:32
And the kids would love it.

16 MINS LATER

31:23
Yeah.
14:35
Yeah, seizure medication.
14:37
When we first – because he was a growing boy and all parents with kids, HIE slash CP kids will experience this – The medication's never right.
14:48
It might be right this week.
14:49
No.
14:49
But your child is growing.
14:50
Yeah.
14:51
So it's going to be the right, either the right, or the wrong level of volume or intensity because there's different intensities of drugs too.

16 MINS LATER

30:36
Yeah.
4:19
What did you imagine your life and family were going to look like?
4:24
Yeah, so what, we met in 93.
4:27
I was about seven years, I am seven years older than Marie.
4:31
I always thought that I'd be just like my siblings, that I would just, you know, have a job, working class job.
4:37
I was in the military and I would, you know...
4:40
Because I was an older dad, I was ready to settle down.
4:44
She was 23 when I met her.

12 MINS LATER

16:58
Her body's been traumatised.
