But no. There's a lot to that which makes up this job description.
1:28
Yeah, thank you, Mark and Matt, for the opportunity to jump on today and excited about just sharing a little bit about what God is doing.
1:35
Rosedale Baptist Church has been at my heart now for over a decade.
1:41
God brought our family here to be a part of the church.
1:44
I was involved with another ministry when we came here.
1:47
And over the course of about three or four years, our senior pastor, Pastor Scott Toole, began talking to me about what would it be like for you to join our staff? What would it take for you to join our staff? And over those years, he kind of continued dripping that conversation.
2:03
And I knew it was serious at one point when he invited me out for dinner and subsequently for coffee and brought my wife along.

So before we, you know, pepper you with questions about it, could you give us the bird's eye view, like where it came from, why you're involved with it, where your heart is, and then why all of our listeners should sign up tomorrow, I guess, all that.
0:45
And so can you just share like a relational strategy that you've found to be effective, either working with students or adults?
0:52
Yeah, for sure.
0:53
I mean, it is so core to the work that we do really.
0:56
You know, we, we know the research about the importance of having a trusted adult in school, about how engagement, mental health, resilience all improve when a student has an adult they know they can talk to.
1:06
And so making that easier has been a focus for us from day one, and we built IntelliSpark really to raise up the name, face, and story of every kid so that educators can get to know the person, not just the student.
1:19
And so I think in particular of just the ability for a teacher to zero in on something personal with a student, that it helps them to connect with that human being in front of them and transform the day-to-day relationship in a way that also impacts learning in a positive way.

17:33
So what's a key reminder then that you would leave with us connected to this topic?
17:37
Well, I think it would just be that every single interaction we have with a kid can be a pivotal interaction with that kid, and we don't always know it at the time.
