Many people have wondered how, in all those years, no one burned it down.
10:31
We're a small town, rural Newfoundland and Avalon that we're forgotten about.
10:38
And it's kind of getting personal because the government is not listening.
10:43
And why would any government, provincial or federal, want this in anybody's town? I just don't understand it.
10:52
I think there's more to it than we're not.
10:54
There's no explanation I can come up with.
10:56
There's more to this than we really know.

13 MINS LATER

24:04
It's
13:57
Who, who is doing the work?
13:59
Yeah.
14:00
A big part first was ownership.
14:02
That building was just left here in limbo.
14:04
Nobody owned it.
14:05
To make this process happen at our town ourself, that was a big decision that we had to take.
14:10
We, we took ownership of the property, so then we were liable for that property.
15:29
[laughs]
31:54
So have they left the town yet, the first shipment, like on the way to Sunnyside and all that stuff?
32:00
No, they're after making a few shipments, but it's just other product because there's a lot of product on the floor.
32:05
A lot of wood, a lot of wood, a lot of insulation came out of the ceiling.
32:09
It was on the floor and was wet.
32:11
So they have it all cleaned up there for everybody today.
32:14
And we're all going to go in actually today and we're all going to get kind of like a tour.
32:18
And that's why we've done it this way.
36:36
Do you expect that school will open on time and everything will be OK there? I mean, if the scent or the smell is not as bad now that it's solidified, that might help.

36:38
Grainger, for the ones who get it done.
36:42
They put the cell in Sunnyside.
36:44
They ran into a few hiccups, but it's ready, done to receive our product, and the company's on site now almost two weeks in getting ready.
36:55
Actually cleaning up just to get into the building to start mixing our product.
37:01
We're after having a couple loads of peat mass arrived that is going to be mixed to solidify the product.
37:06
It's a slow process.
37:08
A lot of people, even in our own town here, are...
38:44
When you say a few hiccups, what would they have been?
10:00
Many people have wondered how, in all those years, no one burned it down.
10:07
We're a small town in rural, rural Newfoundland under Avalon that we're forgotten about, and it's kind of getting personal, because the government is not listening.
10:18
And why would any government, provincial or federal, want this in anybody's town? I just don't, I, I just don't understand it.
10:27
Uh, I thinks there's more to it that we're not...
10:29
There's not any explanation I can come up with.
10:31
There's more to this than we really know, because there's no way that any federal government, they come here and see what we have here, and want this in anybody's town, in Newfoundland, in Canada, almost anywhere in the world.
10:46
Like, I had the federal minister of environment said that this wasn't environmental.

13 MINS LATER

24:08
So stuff like that, I don't forget.
12:14
... and months, couldn't it?
12:15
Yeah, definitely.
12:16
Uh, we're on, we're on track.
12:18
We're hoping to start on the last week of June, the 29th, uh, the actual cleanup part.
12:24
Uh, we're waiting on the company now that got awarded the contract.
12:27
Uh, they're, they have to get a hole dug on Sunnyside and get a liner put in, which they're gonna be dealing with two more companies.
12:34
And once that happens, they're gonna start the process here on our end, and we're trying to, we're pushing ahead a couple of weeks.
13:38
Okay.
26:19
And what are you expecting to hear at 3 o'clock? Do you think we will be much the wiser in terms of all of those details, or will the police keep it pretty close to their vests?
26:29
No, I would imagine, with the exception of not breaching any privacy concerns for this 14-year-old girl, I would imagine they would pretty much tell us what led them to that location, was she known to these people, how they got the information, and specifically what was the relationship between her and whoever it was that was in this home where she was located.
26:48
So all of that is part of the narrative.
26:49
But please can't just say she's found.
26:52
Thank you, everybody, for your attention to this matter and move on.
26:56
There has to be some answers.
26:57
I'm sure we'll get some today.
27:37
What can you tell us on the most up-to-date information on that?

15:43
That's K-A-C-H-A-V-A.com, code NEWS.
15:47
And then we're going to the second part of the tenders for the demolition of the building.
15:51
And, uh, we'll, we'll be doing that, uh, as soon as we start the, the cleanup part.
15:57
Um, the main reason Collin Day is about our, our other plant on the beach is our fish processing license.
16:03
Um, there's a lot of stuff after happening over the past, uh, say, uh, six months.
16:08
Like I said, we know we, everybody know we lost our plant in November.
16:12
And, um, [lip smacks] since then, there's that much after happening.
17:26
Mm-hmm.
