Can you just take me through that day a little bit, if you don't mind? That just blew my mind.
3:57
Well, I don't think there's any argument in saying that that was the best Letterman show ever.
4:04
It was July of 82, to be exact.
4:08
He took over the show, basically.
4:10
Now, he had heard about the band.
4:12
So that's why usually he, you know, he's James Brown, so he can ask for whatever he wants, whether he gets it or not is another thing.
4:21
But he usually brings at least a drummer with him.

7 MINS LATER

11:42
Yeah.
2:25
So given your experience with Five Wealth, what would you say are the key lessons from building and scaling a wealth management or financial advice business while keeping that all important focus on the actual client relationships?
2:38
I think from my experience, there's two things.
2:40
And one of them is specific to how we've grown so far.
2:45
And in time, we'll have to really think about because our growth so far has almost not entirely, but almost entirely been organic.
2:55
So it's all been referrals from existing clients and professionals.
3:01
And we've managed to maintain a sort of 10% organic growth every year, even now at the level of AUM that we are.
3:10
We have made some lateral hires and brought advisors that we knew already into the firm who've brought their clients in.

7 MINS LATER

10:10
most importantly, what are the big opportunities that you're seeing right now?
0:49
So whatever snare you feel-
0:50
Yeah, they're all good soul drums.
0:52
I'll give you an example.
0:55
[upbeat music]

21 MINS LATER

21:35
This band records live in the room by looking at each other, and that might be rock and roll in its simplest form, but that's why it sounds the way it sounds.
21:48
Pray like a mantis.
21:50
You animal like me.
21:53
Hands off.
10:21
Not having been a high draft choice, when you got to the Vikings, did that help you make the team or impress the coaches? You know,
10:28
there was a couple of things that happened there.
10:32
Number one is trying to get noticed because back then we didn't have all the limits that they have today in training camp.
10:38
So, you know, you might come into camp with 100 guys, you know, and knowing we're going to get down to 53.
10:43
So...
10:46
And so for me, I just look at it and said, hey, at some point you got to get noticed here.
10:50
You know, again, I'm this seventh round draft and no one knows and I'm not from a big name school or anything like that.
13:10
And your son? Yes,
35:57
And that's
35:57
what being an artist, whether you're a musician, a graphic artist, a painter, a sculptor, that's what you do.
36:06
You wake up thinking about a thing.
36:08
You have a canvas that is empty, and by the end of the day, there's something on it.
36:14
That is wild.
36:17
Every time, I don't even think about it anymore, but it used to freaking blow my mind.
36:21
And Megan and I would laugh about it.

37:16
it.

12:02
Um, and tha- and that's exactly, and I'm sure, you know, the gaffer will be
12:06
beGiving that mindset and, and, and making sure that the players are mentally prepared for such a situation, whatever color of shirt is put in front of them.
12:16
You know, I don't know if you've...
12:18
If you're like me, keep glancing at the phone waiting for, um, any news alerts, and how many times during the course of the, this podcast we'll be saying the phrase, "At time of recording," because things could be changing as we're even speaking with each other now.
12:31
But, um, it, it is a shame that it's got, you know, this far.
12:35
I, I was talking with people, um, with the, the Premier League.
12:39
I was, I was doing an event with them yesterday.
15:33
It's, it's the championship over 46 games, isn't it?
10:36
Hmm.
10:38
So you go down to the left-hand side of the dial, and then on the far right were the R&B stations and stuff with the weaker signal.
10:48
And that's where you would hear the Dells and groups like that.
10:53
Now, the other group that I heard was the Ramsey Lewis Trio.
11:06
Now, they had crossed over So they were on pop radio on the left side of the dial, so you could hear them, Ramsey Lewis.
11:17
And then one of my favorite records from the early 60s, mid to early 60s, was by Tommy Tucker called High Heeled Sneakers.
11:28
And I played that record to death as a kid.

22 MINS LATER

33:15
Like, you know, how important is that? And can you talk a little bit about how that impacts you as an artist when you're creating art in some of these sacred places?
