Steven Drizin

14:05
That's when Steven Drizin came into the picture.
14:08
I picked up the phone and Carol Dodge was on the other end of the line, and she asked me if I would review the interrogation tapes of the man who had confessed to and been convicted of killing her daughter.
14:45
When he got the call from Carol asking for help, he was surprised.
14:50
This was the first time in my 30-plus years as a lawyer that a crime victim's mother called me and said, "I've got real concerns that the man who killed my daughter is innocent."
51:43
She needed help now, and so she looked and looked until she found him, the man who might make all the difference.
51:54
My phone rang, and I picked up the phone, and I almost fell out of my chair.
54:36
When that Dateline program about the case aired, Drizin had been watching.
54:41
I had seen the Dateline show, so I was aware of who Carol Dodge was, and my phone rang.
54:49
And I picked up the phone, and, uh, the woman on the other end of the line was Carol Dodge.
54:54
And
37:13
So what do you mean by the script?
37:15
So the first thing that police officers do is they suggest that the science has proven that this child died by being shaken.
37:28
The next thing they do is they say science also proves that the injuries that the child suffered occurred within a few hours of when the child was shaken.
37:44
And because, in this case, the suspect was the only adult caring for the child in that timeframe, the evidence proves that he was the one who shook the child.
38:00
And so he begins to think about, "Well, how might I have shaken this child?" And police officers provide answers to that question.
38:11
You were tired.
38:12
You hadn't slept very well the night before.
41:22
If you gave an umbrella statement about what bothers you most about this particular case, what would it be?
