[gentle music] [birds chirping] I feel like we should start with how we met Etel.

So we're speaking of Etel Adnan, who is a poet, painter, novelist, philosopher, teacher of philosophy.

My recollection is that it was the late 1980s.

I was working for the, what became the only nonprofit distributor of literary books in the US, a place in Berkeley called Small Press Distribution.

And due to Etel Adnan's partner, Simone Fattal, who is an astounding sculptor and painter artist, but also the founder of a small press called the Post Apollo Press.

And the Post Apollo Press was started by Simone after moving from Beirut to the San Francisco Bay Area.

Uh, they lived in Sausalito.

Mm.
