What, uh, what about as of the last week or so? When, when is it that it, uh, began to become visible from the other side of the sun?
74:31
Yeah, it, it went, um, to the closest approach to the sun, which is still somewhere between the distance of Earth and Mars, uh, around October 29th, and the Earth happened to be ill-positioned to, to observe it at that time.
74:45
Uh, but it is starting to be seen now, uh, by some amateur astronomers, and it was seen, I think, just two days after perihelion by, uh, satellites, uh, like the PUNCH satellite designed to look at objects, uh, or, you know, close into the sun.
75:01
So with that, we can, um, observe, uh, these, these jets that have developed, as, as all comets do when they heat up.
75:10
The gases, uh, are formed from ice sublimating, ice turning from solid into gas, and, and, uh, it pokes through weak parts of, of a comet's crust, and it, it shoots these jets out, uh, like all comets do.
75:22
It's been doing that.
75:23
So that's been exciting to observe.
77:18
[laughs]
7:19
But I guess like, tell us like, how, how did this happen? This is so incredible.
7:24
Yeah.
7:25
Uh, I had the idea for this, uh, about a year ago.
7:29
Uh, I remember I was about to go see, uh, The concert on August 31st in Phoenix last summer, and I bought the VIP package, so I was going to get a chance to meet Al himself.
7:44
And I remember thinking, I want something to talk to him about in the brief moments I have with him.
7:51
And it was around that time that I read about the passing of Tom Lehrer.
7:57
And of course, Tom Lehrer sang The Elements and Lovachevsky and Poisoning Pigeons in the Park and a lot of famous comedic songs.
