Well, Kim Fowley, I drove with Bruce Hubbard, who did the Within You, Without You that we did with.
11:54
I drove with him with Kim Fowley to go pick up Rodney Dangerfield.
11:59
Dangerfield.
12:00
I don't know.

46:09
exactly yeah
45:52
yeah
45:53
My number two takes me somewhere else for another reason.
45:57
It was actually recorded in 68, but it was written in 1964 and performed around the world by many musicians and heard by many.
46:07
It's Terry Riley in C. It's a minimalist composition.
46:12
It was, I think, 36 little phrases that the musicians are instructed to repeat as many times as you want and move on to the next one.
46:22
So each little one you'd repeat for a while and move on and you'd have a whole ensemble of 18 or 20 musicians with whatever instruments they played.
46:31
Repeating that and having to listen to each other and not to get too far away from everybody but all of the phrases you could start and stop whenever you wanted you could take a break so you were forced to as an ensemble become one unit and listen to each other and make it get to the end where they start everybody starts out playing the same phrase together and at the end everybody starts out playing the last phrase together what this I think it did for me, for my consciousness, was just that.

And the Monkees' Porpoise song, but I would never purport that that is representative of the psychedelic era as
58:11
You're on, Steve.

I became the producer by default.
58:15
The band had, over the last 10 or so years, had been recording intermittently with their new ideas and stuff and, and having trouble getting it to hold together or to finish, or, or to finish anything.
58:28
So George finally said, "Hey, you know, take over and make it get finished." So that, that's basically as, my position as a producer was just to make sure it got done.
58:39
It encapsulates the last 10 years of what the band was doing.
58:43
There's a great cover of, uh, um, the Beatles song that, uh, Howie plays, like, this great, uh, electric guitar solo on.
58:51
And the latest songs were all recorded live in the studio.
