So

it's my job to identify opportunities for students to get real world experience through helping small family run businesses with issues they have.

So my first point is instead of asking employers what skills they need, what they're looking for in students, I start with what problems are you trying to solve? And then once I know the authentic problem, I can work with faculty to bring faculty in who have the expertise around it.

And then we develop sort of a consulting plan.

But the students are the ones who deliver the solution.

So the students get the hand-on experience.

The structure lets academic units respond to workforce needs within our local community while we're training students with actual, hey, this is how this would be deployed in a company.
