this kind of question raises uh you know a difficulty because like artificial intelligence is like increasingly being used to like describe any technological um like innovation or or evolution and i mean like the basic like functionality of the way I was like describing AI, you know, like a few years ago is that, you know, you get some like data inputs in, you know, like information about an individual, who are they, where do they live? You know, like if you're trying to get like a loan for a house, like what's your job? And, you know, these like, are you married? These other factors then to decide.

So this information goes into an algorithm.

The algorithm is weighted in particular ways.

It kind of like weighs these different variables, you know, how much you make, what your education is, et cetera, to have some type of output, which was like a recommendation or a decision about whether or not you get a loan.

And I think that example that I just highlighted highlights the real harms, the real and present harms of using artificial intelligence, in particular when it's being used to make important consequential decisions about people's lives.

Do you get a job? Do you get a loan? Do you get into school? These types of harms.

How are law enforcement agencies using facial recognition and what arises from inaccurate matches? You know, someone says, Oh, this, this is, uh, this is so-and-so and it turns out that it's not, uh, what precautions do we have and what oversight is there over, uh, search images that are providing inaccurate information.
