Kids, women, older people, anyone who hasn't cycled in a long time can feel that cycling is completely inaccessible.
2:50
That's why we need the city to create spaces, safe spaces.
2:56
The people who cycle, we know statistically that the majority of people who cycle in Dublin or anywhere in Ireland are male, predominantly male, of a certain age, of a certain socioeconomic range.
3:08
Cycling should be for everybody.
3:10
Cycling infrastructure that we need is not for the people who are already cycling, it's for the people who are put off cycling by the lack of infrastructure.
3:19
So another thing is experience also.
3:22
So in your case, I would say that even if you're a driver or not, it does not mean that you will, you know, have reasons to feel comfortable on the road.
4:26
Not because they can't, but because none of their friends do.
10:44
Are you dealing with this frequently, Stephen?
10:46
Yes, we have lots of customers coming to us looking for a replacement since they normally use the bicycles as their main mode of transportation.
11:00
It's more frequent than we would like to, and we do learn some lessons out of their experiences in terms of what can be done to reduce the risk.
11:11
What equipment, listeners wondering, would you recommend, Stephen, you know, for bike lock systems or mechanisms that cyclists can use? Is there anything in particular you would suggest?
11:21
Well, it's not only what you use, but how you use it and where you use it.
11:26
So in terms of locks, there's a number of things that are inexpensive and other things that are very expensive.
11:33
Wheel locks are highly recommended because it removes the likelihood that they will just cycle away with your bicycle.
11:39
Carrying it is harder.
