We fled the tsar." And so I was like, "Oh, I'll, let me, let's, let's study Russian." And then I spent a summer abroad in Russia in 2002 when that current fascist had just gotten into his position.

I can't believe he's still frickin' there.

And, and, and I don't know that anyone saw the, the nightmare that that would become, but, uh, when I was doing the study abroad, the host family that I had stayed with asked, "Oh, what's your family background? What's your religion?" I said, "Oh, well, we were Jewish, and we came from," what I had only then recently learned was not Russia, or it was the Russian Empire, and it's what is now East Ukraine, Poland, Belarus.

I have a better understanding of that.

And, and they were like, "Oh, you're not Russian.

Right.
