And Stefan, let's say if a farmer is starting from scratch, what are the most important things they should begin recording?
3:05
So with any data system, the first question is always, what do I want to achieve? If we know where we are heading, we can plan the steps to get there.
3:15
If I want a general overview of what my farm is doing, I can start with what do I already have? My bank account stating how much money was spent and how much was earned is a starting point.
3:27
What else do I have already is your environmental conditions, your management decisions that you do make, simply writing them down and the reason why, and then later recording what effect did I see from this and why did certain things happen.
3:42
Recording what am I putting into the system lets me know what effects these changes had to see what's worthwhile or should I try something else the next time I'm doing it.
3:53
What am I producing? Am I increasing my production? Am I decreasing it? Am I increasing my profitability? Then shows me whether it is a good return on investment.
4:03
Am I making sense with what I am changing on my farm? And what does it cost me to do this? Am I producing more, but at a higher price, thus my return is lower? What am I losing? Am I getting a higher born alive, but suddenly my pre-wean mortalities are higher? Thus, it is not really giving me a net return that is positive.

So Stefan, what are some of the most common mistakes farmers make with rear coat keeping?
