When you look back over all these years, are there any big things that were just drivers that are not even relevant anymore? And then the other side of that coin, are there things that we never would have even talked about 20 years that are now just really top of mind?

Stacey SobleGUEST
I mean, when we founded the competition, there wasn't really any data out there, business data out there for salons.

Stacey SobleGUEST
But when we founded it, the benchmarks were really the key thing that we were going after.

Stacey SobleGUEST
And now, you know, even admittedly, there's still good data, but it's a year old by the time we publish it because we are going off of tax return tax years.

How long has that been in existence? And do you know why it was created in the first place?

Stacey SobleGUEST
And it was really launched at the time, you know, technology systems the salon softwares weren't as sophisticated as they are today and you might know where your business was but you had no way to compare yourself to others how did you stack up how well were you performing and it was kind of the time of mergers and acquisitions and business and we started off we're different today than what we started off we started off by just simply measuring sales from one year to the next and the percentage of growth now we've take in a lot of different best business practices.

Stacey SobleGUEST
And that evolved because in 2008, when the recession came, we were afraid there weren't going to be 200 slots that showed growth.

Stacey SobleGUEST
So we pivoted a little bit and we focused on best business practices as well as growth.

And so for anyone out there who is interested in applying, I would say, what's the time period? Like when do applications typically open? And what would you say is a reason for our listeners, you know, why should they consider applying for the top 200 awards?
