So I'd love if you can share some of the, the key moments that have shaped the person you've become.
11:59
As with any life, there are moments that, you know, you look back on and go, "Gosh, how did I get through that?" And then potentially think- Okay, now I understand why, because it's got me to this place over here, or it's given me that experience, or it's helped me grow in a way that I didn't realize I needed to grow.
12:19
So I was working in aged care in, um, HR, and I was the only HR person for 150 staff, and it was, um, 80, 80 residents in the residential aged care home, and then we had about 50-odd independent living units.
12:36
So it was quite a, you know, it was independently owned, but it was quite a large, uh, residential care home.
12:42
And it was there that really taught me that I had very, very porous boundaries, and that I was a people pleaser, as a lot of us are.
12:58
Because when you're a people person, you like to spend time with people, helping them, doing the right thing, making people happy.
13:06
You like to be liked.

29:25
Mm-hmm.
30:01
... uh, trying to do that in a kind way, which I suppose sometimes difficult to do.
30:05
do.It absolutely is, and that's why I've put a framework in my book so that people can actually start to implement more kindness into not only their own lives, but the world around them.
30:17
And I think that if we have things that are easy to follow and easy to implement, then hopefully we can start to bring more of that into our, not only our own lives, but society and our teams and our organizations around us.
32:06
What do you hope that, uh, my listeners would get out of your book by reading it?
32:11
I hope that they realize that, that they matter because, um, this book is actually written for the human at the center of the world.
32:19
And, uh, it's, it is written around leadership, but we all are self-leaders as well.
32:23
We are-- We have the, the ability to lead ourselves in, um, whatever way we decide to lead.
32:29
And I think that I just want people to be able to...

12:21
Talk to me about not being able to speak clearly for 12 months and how that impacted your
12:30
life.
12:30
It impacted everything, if I'm honest.
12:34
So before I went into surgery, I didn't know how much impairment I would have and I didn't know one of my favourite things to do is to sing and read books to my two boys.
12:44
They're 12 and 9, but I still do it.
12:47
Well, they're 12 and 9 now.
12:48
So I recorded...
