and I don't think I've ever read a romance novel where a man stays friends with his mistress as the book goes on and where much less like with his wife's blessing and understanding and I'm just really curious like why did you decide to include Juliana how did you think about her as you were working on the book because she's so she's so fucking refreshing I'm obsessed with her

I always love when there's fun side characters.

And I think they, I'm going to say something that sounds like I'm like comparing my work to these people and I'm not because I could never.

But like Nora Ephron and Jane Austen have some of the most fun side characters.

And I think it's what really like fills out the world of their books so well.

I just, and movies, I guess.

I always wanted to like make, have some fun with the people that, you know, that you have on the side.

And if you feel like there is a way to incorporate education and your values in your work just like generally what are you thinking about when it comes to that topic

I didn't have as much messaging of that at home.

But I still think that, like, as much as we were fine with that, it still wasn't like, "Here's how you talk about sex, and here's how you have good sex, and here's how you tell a partner what you want." And so even as I became a sex and relationships writer, it has felt difficult at times in my life to be like, "Here's what I want," or, "I wanna try this," or like, "Hey, I'm into this," and not feel that immediate, like, "You should shut that down," like, "That will be an awkward conversation." And which is, again, like, very, very funny for me to feel, especially with a partner that I'm like, "This is the only person that you're having sex with for, like...

and it's been the only person you're having sex with for 10 years.
