Talk to me a little bit more about the strength of that sentence, 31 years, and how you believe or do you believe it may act as a deterrent and what sort of message ultimately you believe it sends out?

Well, I hope some of the sentencing that we have seen often fails to reflect the gravity, especially in domestic abuse cases, sometimes resulting in minimum tariffs, very often if less than 20 years.

So I think that sends out a dangerous message of tolerance of violence against women and girls.

So this is exceptional, the sentence today.

And I suppose what we are calling for through the sentencing bill that is currently sitting with our Justice Committee in the Northern Ireland Assembly is for a specific offence of femicide with a minimum tariff with a starting point for murder of 30 years.

Mm-hmm.

And we would welcome the committee and our elected representatives to look at that.
