What's it mean to you to be able to pick a rod up and go for a flick? H- how long has it been happening for?

Soli BaileyGUEST
Mate, I, um, I think fishing's been happen as long as surfing pretty much before I even understood what either of them were.

Soli BaileyGUEST
Um, my old boy was a, um, you know, a keen fisher and, and obviously a keen surfer and, and where we grew up in Byron, like back in the day that's what it was.

Soli BaileyGUEST
It was just, it was a hippie fishing, surfing town and, and there wasn't much more to it, you know? It was pretty, you know, if you loved, if you loved those things that's why you moved there sm- and, and maybe smoking some pot [laughs] you know? That was sort of the, uh, the type, the type, the type of town it was, you know? [laughs] Um, and, and yeah, like we just, I pretty much grew up on it.

Soli BaileyGUEST
Like I, I, I, as early as I remember I was on the boat with my old boy up the front, seasick at Four Mile, which is in, you know, your 50 meters sort of deep off the Cape of Byron in a little like four and a half meter tinny, and I'd be seasick and he'd be like, "You wanna go in mate?" "No, I don't wanna go in." I just was so hellbent on it, any chance I could get in the boat with him.

Soli BaileyGUEST
'Cause he'd take me surfing all the time and like if I asked, he'd go, like, 'cause he, you know, he, he was hellbent on me being a pro surfer.

Soli BaileyGUEST
As much as I'm so stoked he gave that to me, that was like without a doubt every day we'd surf.

Um, what did you do after that?

Soli BaileyGUEST
Well, so I dropped off and I sort of had that year to reflect or had the, you know, the end of the year to reflect on whatever.

Soli BaileyGUEST
And I was, I was obviously gutted and just like, I was burnt out to say the least.

Soli BaileyGUEST
Like that's done the tour is like, you just, especially I think the guys that like their first year and whatnot, you did, you just almost feel as though you're so out of control in terms of like how much you're doing and like where you're going and what you're doing and like, you've got to organize this and then you're off to there.
