Episode 37 – From Detection to Provenance
16:58
28:27

Steve AtkinsHOST
So my question to you is, in that scenario, what would a Providence-first system allow the recipient or platform to establish?
S
17:08Slavko KovačevićGUEST
So in an ideal world, fast forward five years from now, every network like Facebook or Instagram or WhatsApp, even Twitter will have detectors running on their side, or we will have an independent platform that verifies the content once we upload it to test its provenance.
S
17:39Slavko KovačevićGUEST
And I think that eventually, with the success of DeepMark, we will come to a situation in which, before we share something with a friend, we ask ourselves, is it DeepMark? Can I trust this content? And we kind of get to the habit to upload it or ask the system, hey, is this legit? Because we ask this question ourselves when we get something that we are hard to believe or we think it's poofed, but currently we don't have a way to verify.

In a couple of years, when DeepMark becomes a company that is a provider of digital trust, or we provide a technology for another company to do that in our behalf, humans of this world will be able to ask the question, is it DeepMark? Can I trust this company? The only problem still I see here is with human kind of habit to trust something that sounds a bit fishy because we love to gossip we love to share the bad news crazy news and so on that's human nature and bad words travel really fast that's the problem of human nature that we can't solve with this technology but we can mitigate

Steve AtkinsHOST
Do you have any idea what it's going to take for basically humans to start to question again?
S
28:35Slavko KovačevićGUEST
I think that what I know about humanity is that it needs to become rough and tough for us to kind of wise enough.
S
28:45Slavko KovačevićGUEST
And with AI, AI is allowing us to scale the good outcomes of it at an unprecedented rate.
S
28:58Slavko KovačevićGUEST
However, it also helps bad actors scale their outcomes so to say work in unprecedented scale and for example take fraud 10 years ago if i wanted to steal someone's money online it would take relatively a lot of effort from my side to kind of do it now i can do the same work but scale 10 000 times with ai agents with voice agents and everything else And I think the fraud market and the disinformation market are going to rise at an astronomical levels until ordinary Joe's starts noticing them and start being really, really scared.
