Mm-hmm

... um, and that's in clinical trials and medical devices, and I would go as far as to say in health and social care research because of the changing society.
6:36
Um, I think on a really practical level, there are a lot of things that are changing that we need to try to keep up with.
6:41
Um, and I certainly think about the use of patients' data, and when we, you know, w- when we ask them to trust us to bringing them onto a clinical trial or a research study, it's how, and I think that's something we'll discuss, but it's how that information is shared with them.
6:54
I think something that has really changed but a really positive thing is how Ireland has responded to the changes in clinical research and, and the sort of ethical landscape in Ireland, and I would echo what Mary and Andrew have said about the establishment of the national office, the HRCDC, and I would also think about the All-Island PPI Ignite Network, and I think what they have done in this phase of the network, um, which was recently refunded by the Health Research Board to the tune of 10 million euro, um, 11 academic partners and 10 all-island partners, and bringing in Northern Ireland is hugely important, is that they have brought patients on as co-leads.
7:28
So instead of having offices in universities with program managers and academics, a PPI co-lead is now part of that team.
7:35
They're paid to be contributors.
