41:54
Uh, Simon, I'm gonna start with you this time.
41:57
Uh, thanks, Beth, and thank you, Nigel, for that.
41:59
Um, I'm gonna slightly disagree with you on growing the economy.
42:03
Um, if that's the only target we set and it completely ignores people's personal, um, enjoyment, happiness, uh, which is very apparent at the moment with the amount of negativity about, um, if you just chase, chase the dollar, um, but leave your people behind wondering what's happened to our communities and our lifestyle, it's obviously not the best thing.
42:26
Um, maybe having a more pragmatic approach to diversify the economy to, so let it naturally ... uh, grow as it has in the past, um, but being very respectful of our culture, our heritage, and, uh, again, our people, um, that to me is the most important thing.
42:43
I think tourism is, uh, has got huge, uh, potential, uh, coming up over the next 20 years.
42:49
Um, people don't wanna go to the mainland Europe anymore.

38 MINS LATER

80:42
Simon.
4:28
But let me start by asking you a question, which is, what is the number one destination you think everyone should go to once in their lifetime? And I'm going to start with you, Simon.
4:40
I grew up just after the war with my father traveling to do plays in New York.
4:44
And there was something about the stuff he sent back.
4:48
In those days, the rate of exchange, I think he got a pound bought you $6 or $7.
4:53
So things were pretty good over there.
4:55
And we would be sent the latest Rodgers and Hammerstein musical.
4:59
We'd be sent blue jeans.

9 MINS LATER

14:07
I

4:09
Yeah,
4:09
you didn't need to remind me about that.
4:12
No, absolutely.
4:13
And it's been a real privilege.
4:15
I mean, it's just a fantastic place to be.
4:18
And the kids here and their parents, but especially the staff here, are exceptional.
4:22
And what do you make of the change that you have led over that time? I think we've been lucky.
Stephen Martin

7:18
What advice would you give to parents right now to avoid that being an issue for their children?
45:56
I
45:56
think the thing for me is it's just, it's something everybody should experience, regardless of whether they're a car enthusiast or not.
46:05
I agree.
46:07
Because I've lost count the amount of times where, that I stand on the top of a mountain pass and I literally, I've got nothing to say to anybody for a couple of minutes.
46:17
I'm just like, I want to just take this in.
46:19
Absolutely.
46:20
And you know, in the modern world, everybody's got the cameras out everywhere, right? Have they? Yeah.

20 MINS LATER

66:10
And then you get people like yourself, Simon, that go, well, why don't you just try and figure this out? And ultimately that's what's made it work, which is incredible.
30:41
... could, could you just give your side of, of what happened?
30:44
Yeah, of course.
30:45
Um-Yeah, I mean, it's probably, it's a pretty good idea to tell h-how it started.
30:50
Um, uh, so, I mean, I, you know, I did go to university.
30:56
Um, so this is obviously around the age of 20.
30:59
Um, um, I, I, I got myself a bit in trouble there with excess, shall we say, and, uh, some personal issues, et cetera.
31:07
Ended up sort of living, living in my car and on couches for about a year.
35:12
Oh, good.
35:16
So what, what is the process then of removing the mast? 'Cause I imagine it's, uh, incredibly painstaking and very difficult.
35:23
Ye- yes, it is.
35:24
And we've, um, we've engaged a lot of, um, uh, contractors to support us.
35:28
But, but ultimately, the, the first thing we had to establish was whether they were structurally capable of being lifted out of the, of the ship.
35:36
And so we had some in-depth structural analysis undertaken to understand where the stresses, um, would be with the lifting.
35:43
Um, we also had to engage, um, our structural engineers to design a specific and bespoke lifting approach, um, uh, which you'll see.
35:52
When you see the mast being lifted, it's sort of, uh, upper supports connected to lower supports.
40:10
And what about the work to conserve the hull? What does that entail?
