someone you know a lot of people were hemmed in the house and all that that wanted to produce their own food completely come here was that the goal

that was the goal yeah that was the goal in all the gardens to give people a space that they could come together and grow and i mean even people with their own gardens as well these gardens have been really valuable because it gives a place for people who are quite experienced gardeners to come and learn from and share experiences as well these are all our tatties here and that's all grown in seaweed which we've collected from the beach excellent those two and then this year we've done three rows that are using our own compost you can see our compost bays up at the back up there so these are just in our own compost but you can see the ones that we did those are our early ones coming up here which I always find amusing because obviously having lived in Peru there was such a vast variety of different colours of potatoes and everything So to come back to Arran, and Arran kind of is quite fiercely proud of its potato tradition as well.

Donald McKelvie lived just down the road from here that he did all of the experimentation with varieties.

And we do have some Arran Victory in here as well, which is the kind of, that's the only one of his varieties that you can really get commercially.

How do projects like this help build resilience in the island's food system alongside farmers, growers and producers?
