And what would you say are the limitations of the current procedures?

Well, current procedures are normally point-based.

Uh, we take a bit of soil and analyze it and take a bit of soil elsewhere and analyze it and try and figure out what exists between those two points by using geostatistics or geospatial statistics.

And, uh, that's a bit of a problem because we know that probabilistically, we, we get some indication of what's there, but we're never entirely sure.

Peering down into the soil is always difficult.

Uh, our technology can also go down into the subsoil, and we're starting to do some work looking at the potential for carbon storage.

And working with subsoils is famously difficult in soil science.

Yeah, certainly.

So soil is basically rocks that have broken down over time and become intermingled with organic matter, dead bits of organism, dead bits of plants.

And they're the fuel for the biology of the system.

And over time, the biology of the system will actually restructure the soil.

The pore space that I mentioned earlier, that's generally biogenic.

It's created by the organisms that live within the soil.

And now ploughing is a bad thing? Yeah.
