Nick LuckHOST
Do you see what I mean? How do you get to a point where nobody in that room has some sort of skin in the game?
S
10:32Simon CoxGUEST
Yeah, I mean, look, I think I'm a reasonably good example, right? I'm an owner and a breeder, and therefore if you take, you know, an absolute purist approach to this, I'm not strictly independent, right? But because I've got, you know, 0.1% of the British bloodstock, I'm not sure that qualifies me as being in a position of significant influence or control.
S
10:51Simon CoxGUEST
And so whilst I bring... you know, wide-ranging knowledge and expertise of certain sectors, I'm perfectly capable of looking at the broader picture and I don't have any significant influence or control or strong vested interest.
S
11:07Simon CoxGUEST
Because what I want, Nick, to your original question about defining independence, What I want at its heart is a group of people who are really knowledgeable and really understand racing and can cover all the waterfront.

And as I become an owner, my favourite racehorses tend to get replaced by the very sporadic occasional winner that I had.
S
9:05Simon CoxGUEST
So I've still got, probably my favorite racehorse, to answer your question, was probably Senior Business.
S
9:09Simon CoxGUEST
I'm not saying he was the greatest racehorse of all time, but there's something about that horse that I loved.
S
9:19Simon CoxGUEST
And my mom used to send me copies of the racing post in Sporting Life, and I used to get them like 10 days later and read them all.

Nick LightfootHOST
A lot of people are going to want to know how you'll fit or how you're ready to deal with government based on your experience.

But I was actually surprised at how well-crafted it was from a technical point of view.
