Why, why are these important?

I think, you know, for a vast majority of, uh, these children, p- particularly those with neurodivergent challenges, I think the environment of a secondary care hospital, a busy waiting room, a busy theater environment, lots of unfamiliar staff, you know, is, is very overloading.

It's a sort of ...

It's very unsettling.

It's anxiety provoking, and it's almost a block to that then young person, um, who, who may well want to proceed and have an operation or a procedure done.

But just getting through that initial, um, preparation to achieve that, you know, it's just too hard.

And so, you know, the art of these pathways is pre-assessment.
