Simon Case

So people might remember Chris Wormald, who was the cabinet secretary Keir Starmer a- appointed very temporarily.

When Keir Starmer first came in, he, uh, said he wouldn't like to continue with Simon Case.

He brought in Chris Wormald, who everybody said at the time, including us, "I don't think this is the right person for the job of cabinet secretary.

If you want a major overhaul, you want to rewire the state, I don't think Chris is your guy." Anyway, that became quite clear.

So, you know that, that's quite a task.

But we've got one of our most sort of senior former public servants leading that effort in Team Barrow in Simon Case, and work is underway to do that.

We're looking at recruiting another twenty-two thousand apprentices by twenty thirty-five and getting young people on board now and seeing what a reliable, well-paid, good job in nuclear engineering can mean for them and their family, uh, is a core part of what we're up to in Barrow.

This is the one who has been given a life peerage.

He was directly involved in the deliberations about Harry's ongoing police protection and security status in the UK during 2020.

And

also Simon Case goes back and forth between William and the conservative government.

And he was also involved in a lot of the finer points of hammering out how Northern Ireland, I think I have that right, was going to deal with Brexit.
