In most democratic countries that I know of, judges are appointed by the body politics of the state, parliaments, executive, combination of both.

I support the American way.

Most democratic countries work that way.

If you give so much power to courts, you should have at least the say of who gets in.

Otherwise, you have a runaway court, that the distance from the court to the public is huge.

We passed a compromise that is not as nearly as democratic as the American way, but it gives more power to the parliaments.

Which brings us to the fourth and final point, defining the scope of the attorney general's authority.

But as time went by, and as the court made more and more rulings that directly challenged decisions by Bibi Netanyahu's government, Israeli politicians, particularly on the right, began speaking openly and loudly about the need for a sweeping judicial reform.

Judicial reform is about making Israel democratic again, because Israel started as a democratic country.

It's one of the few countries in the world, U.S. included, that are democratic in nature from the day of its beginning, from the first day.

Some would argue that the U.S. or other countries had democracy, but it wasn't perfect, that some parts of society did not have the voting rights, women, Afro-Americans, or others.

In Israel, from day one, everyone had a vote, women, men, Jews, Arabs, from day one, and even during the war.

Is the beginning and end of the aim to neutralize Hezbollah in Lebanon, or does it also include this aim annexing a large chunk of the south of the country?
