So every year, the last weekend of May, it goes from the Friday at 5 p.m. to the Saturday at 5 p.m. And you just go out and see as many birds as you can.

They work really hard, they drive long distances and so on but other people try to do it on bicycles or even walking or in some cases they find a really good place like the Albert Creek banding station in Watson Lake and just sit in one place for all that time and don't leave that spot and do a kind of a big sit as it's called.

I think the people that we're organizing, we're trying to balance the migrant birds that are passing through Whitehorse or the Yukon, the southern Yukon, and going into the Arctic, for example, the shorebirds or the ducks and cranes and swans and things like that, And then there's also the birds that are migrating into the southern Yukon to nest, like some of the little songbirds, like the warblers and the flycatchers and so on.
