How did you get into sports nutrition? Give us your background story with some of your work.
3:27
Sure.
3:28
I would say I'm a lifelong athlete, so I ran in high school and college and got into cycling after college.
3:34
And I knew I wanted to work with athletes, and I just didn't know the capacity.
3:39
Like, when I was going into college, like, sports dieticians really weren't a thing yet.
3:43
And so I remember first dipping my toe in athletic training, and I switched majors [laughs] very quickly when I learned that we would be first on the scene to deal with really crazy injuries.

But I was just like, "I don't, I don't wanna do that." So then I remember also at the same time, one of my teammates in college was impacted with an eating disorder, and it was like, I wonder if I could foster a career where I get to work with athletes that want some support with developing their athletic edge, but also athletes too that maybe have disordered relationship with food and body and movement.

You mentioned that you got into cycling after college, so I'd love to hear about how that sport feels and kinda how you explore that sport for yourself, and what happened recently, and that's gonna take us into w- kind of the second part of this conversation.
