So how could our listeners today stand out on, let's say, Airbnb?
6:31
Love the question because you're exactly right.
6:33
These markets are getting really, really saturated.
6:36
And I always tell people I love saturated markets.
6:39
One thing about a saturated market is it means that there's a lot of demand.
6:44
And when you have a lot of demand...
6:46
Your job now is to go out and figure out how you're going to get your unfair share of business.

13:54
But of course, there's fluctuation, you know, who knows what the future holds? Wouldn't it be better to wait for homes to come down in prices before purchasing?
1:58
Okay, so first of all, let's start with, I know your background a little bit, but can you share your background, just like real estate, what you've done and what brought us to short term rentals?
2:08
Yeah, that's all it's ever paid my bills.
2:10
I got out of college.
2:11
I had a job for about six months and met a real estate investor back in 2000.
2:16
So I'm going on almost 26 years, 27 years now.
2:20
And I started off back then doing fix and flips.
2:23
And I said, I'm going to quit my job.

You just have to be better in that asset class.
8:58
... results, how do you narrow that down?
8:59
It, it came, I guess, trial and error.
9:01
At first, we were just sampling stuff from draft lines and plating it on these things called Petri plates, and you can grow and make bacterial colonies.
9:08
We expected maybe one or two or three dominant microbes that would be forming that contamination, and then we realized just by looking at the plate, and it looked like Fruity Pebbles, there were hundreds of different things growing.
9:20
So with our, we call longitudinal study, where we come back after time, um, at that time, we were starting to do this advanced molecular analysis of the bacteria.
9:30
We, we sequenced part of their DNA, and we can tell what they are, that there were certain groups that were very dominant and persistent.
11:27
Yeah.
11:27
And so he already had his thesis work working on a different aspect of bacterial physiology, uh, and toward the end of the project for his PhD, we started to transition to characterize biofilms for another aspect of his PhD work, and so his expertise in computer science and data analysis fit really well with processing the data.
43:35
I don't think so.
43:35
Okay.
43:36
Bob is like, he wrote one of my favorite books.
43:39
It's called Love Does.
43:40
What it boils down to is just, we make the gospel so complicated.
43:44
We make our life so complicated.
43:47
So it applies with everything we've been talking about today.
46:23
thought.
