Look, it did look like, as you say, two teams that aren't having a great season and Derby, to their credit, stuck in it long enough to snatch them right at the end.

They did.

In the first 45 minutes, I was wanting to see us be a little bit more aggressive, maybe have more belief in terms of how we can stop them playing and how we can impose ourselves.

Now, Burnley have struggled remarkably at home over the last year and a half.

They've struggled this season with the competitive edge in the Championship.

And I think if we'd have been turning up here mid-table, I think we'd comfortably win that game.

That's what I believe.

Yeah, I think so.

A little bit of disappointment.

I think because of the build-up, because we've got obviously cash back, Fusaini's first game, decent crowd, under the lights, hoping for that first win, you come away a little bit more disappointed.

I think the context of the game, going down to 10 men again, gives you an opportunity.

I think the reason I'll come away from this a little bit more disappointed is, was there enough belief maybe going into that second half? Was there enough forward runs? Was there enough positivity to try something different? It came a little bit predictable for me in the second half.

We were getting it wide.

I suppose the issue is that you're going to be eight games off the pace by the time we get to the international break.

Not sure it was a 3-0 game, Barks, but did Derby do enough to get anything from it in your opinion?

Well, they stayed in the game against a very good West Ham side.

Obviously, you don't want to concede early in the game, especially away from home.

You want to stay in it.

You want to make them work hard to get that first goal.

And it was a little bit too easy, five minutes in, and then the game plan doesn't change necessarily.

You want to stay in it, but you know at some point you've got to chase to get something from the match.

One moment I do want to mention because I know people will mention it in the comments, potential derby penalty at 1-0, Salveson tries to flick it across and it certainly looked as though it came off the hand, what did you make of it?

Did Derby deserve that victory?

Absolutely, there was no question whatsoever that we were after a response, we were after a performance and we got it.

Everything that you look for in terms of players as a group, as a squad, from that performance against Swansea, it was... role reverse it was absolutely the opposite it was front forward it was aggression it was jewels it was competing it was working harder than that at the opposition it was the shape and structure behind the ball there was moments of quality and the two goals certainly were the build-up the link-up play the second one was was a sublime goal team goal and silverstone finish but It was just the attitude of the players.

Every time they lost the ball back, they were chasing, they were hunting in packs, they were aggressive to win it back, they made fouls.

It was just the fundamentals of what John wants from his team and what's got him success as a manager in this division is about those things.

And they put it on show today and they bounced back in superb fashion.

Clean sheet, two goals on the road, first win of the season, everything you could have asked for.

And just those couple of moments of quality, Sam Smollett continues his brilliant start to the season.

I don't think you were too impressed with either of them either.

No, I think you can pick apart every goal you can see, there's no doubt about it.

Is it easily avoidable? And I think both were.

The first one, Taylor's dealt with every ball at the far post for that first contact.

It's the second contact in and around the box that's the important one.

And we were squeezing, trying to get up two or three yards from that goal line.

you leave your man and as soon as you leave your man in the box that ball can bounce anywhere just about contact and their player gets the ball first and it has a free shot a goal from six yards out so first off that's avoidable the second one lose it on the halfway line we go to ground quickly we don't force the ball away from the goal and it was just too easy for Cardiff to go through us to get that second goal so avoidable absolutely we talked about in the last game a couple of defensive moments that weren't good enough You have to shore up sharp.

Can you read too much into these two games?

What else do you take from the game and think that's something that we can take into next week and the week after?

Well, again, the front two, so Smanich just playing off.

Morris certainly had its moments, which led to the goal.

It was a brilliant goal for Sam Smanich, where Morris recognised that his teammate had run beyond him.

It was a great first touch and a good finish.

That was a real standout for me.

I thought Taylor in the left wing-back position was excellent on his debut for his first league game for the Football Club.

We talked quite a lot about him in the first half because he was a dangerous player, but it took him a bit of time to find that end product, but he did find it eventually.
