Oh, good.
3:37
Because when I s- when I started my PhD, uh, my first task was to train dogs to learn the names of toys.
3:43
The idea here is that basically once you have a dog that knows the names of objects, you have a shared communication system with them, so you can ask them questions and they can directly answer what goes on in their mind through the way they behave.
3:57
For example, you can show them a ball, and then you ask them, like, "Bring me a ball," and you present them with a bunch of different things that maybe look like balls or not, and they tell you what in their mind is a ball.
4:10
So we really wanted to have dogs that know names of toys.
4:14
But when I started, we figured, you know, we will just train some dogs.
4:18
They will learn the names of toys, and then we test them.
4:55
[laughs]
