But why, why plovers for you, Shane? How'd that come about?

It was just a thought one day, 'cause I was out for a run and I got swooped by a plover, and it was just this thought of going, you know... 'Cause if people haven't figured out, I've got a few conditions amongst many.

One of them is autism.

So it just got me thinking the parallels between people with autism, the stereotypical elements of the condition, and also the plover.

The fact that they do something weird like nest on the ground to, you know, spawn their young in the middle of a paddock instead of, oh, let's-- where we're gonna get, like, foxes and different other elements of people trying to eat our young.

No, we won't go up in a tree.

We'll just plonk ourselves in the weirdest possible spot, and if anyone gets close to us, we'll, you know, attack them and push them away.

[laughs]
