Um, can you tell me where you were or, or, or what it was like when police confronted the crowd for the first time in Place de la République?
0:29
Well, well firstly, thank you, Kieran, for having me on.

Um, I just wanted to, uh, give a report back because, uh, by and large, vastly by and large, um, it was, uh, the, the mass of people involved, uh, were demonstrating in, in a very, like as a manifestation, as they would say, say in, uh, France.

So, um, the, uh, there was reference you made to looting there a moment ago, and I just wanna from the get-go say I didn't see any of that, and it was, uh, those involved in it was probably a very, very, very fringe small percentage.

But in terms of when we saw things kicking off, uh, in, in terms of the clashes between the pro- the police and the protesters, it would've been around twelve o'clock even, the first sign of tensions rising.
1:21
So we were, um, uh, we walked through, uh, Place de la République around twelve, half twelve.
1:28
There was already huge crowds of mostly young people gathered.
2:45
But if you can imagine, if you can remember what was going through your mind then, how, how did you think this was playing out? What did you think things were building up to?
