Mm-hmm.

That type of faith that is seeking some kind of emotive response is not grounded in the truth.

You know, Christ said, "They persecuted me.

You will ex- you will face persecution." We are to expect hardship.

He did not promise us an easy life.

When he said, "Pick up your cross and follow me," he meant pick up your cross.

I mean, the cross took him to the grave, which he ultimately triumphed over.

It's not a general hostility.

It is a very personal hostility.

The Bible says there will be enmity between you and between the enemy.

And so we, today, that same enemy who spoke deceit and lies and distraction into Eve's ear is the same enemy today who is speaking deceit and doubt and lies into our own ears.

And so we hear it, and sometimes we fall for it, but he is attacking us because motherhood is the vehicle through which God brought about the redemption of His people through the birth of His Son, Jesus.

This week, as we close in chapter 13, we'll meet the prophet Elijah.

When we see him, Elijah is at one of the lowest points in his life.

He's exhausted, hunted, and so discouraged that he asks God to let him die.

So how do you find this settled slow in the midst of five kids who are doing all the things and you're going in a bunch of different directions?

Yeah, I remember I was invited to write a devotional several years ago and I was supposed to write it over, come to me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.

And the instructions were literally just to focus on the, and I will give you rest.

So I dug in kind of deep to that verse.

And when I was writing the devotional, it hit me.

I don't know why it hadn't hit me before.

It's clear as day.
