What prompted you to enter military service and why did you choose ROTC and the Chemical Corps as your branch?

That's a great question, buddy.

So I am a product of a Army Air Corps Air Force fighter pilot, my grandfather, and a Navy officer, my father.

When I was 13 years old, my grandfather told me a story of him getting shot down during the Normandy invasion in his P-47 jug aircraft.

You know, pilots, they talk with their hands and everything.

He knew his airspeed, his altitude, his yaws, everything when he lost the engine to his aircraft.

And as my grandfather described, the P-47 Jug was never intended to be a glider.
