If you were to buy a book on hospitality here in America, it would be like Danny Meyer, right? It would be like, here's how you run a restaurant.

Scott SamuelsonGUEST
We have the hospitality industry, and that is what we tend to think of when it comes to hospitality, which to me is a bit of a, again, I don't want to be too harsh on it because there's plenty of great things in the hospitality industry, but at times it can seem a bit perverted as a form of hospitality.

Scott SamuelsonGUEST
That is to say, they're luring you in with the appearance of hospitality, essentially to make money off of you.

Scott SamuelsonGUEST
And that can easily become the ugliest form of hospitality, which is like almost the inverse of it.

Scott SamuelsonGUEST
I call it vampirism, where you sort of lure people in with your charm and then you feed on them rather than feed them.

Scott SamuelsonGUEST
You lure in consumers as potentially happy consumers and then you consume the consumer, which does feel like, I don't know, I'm feeling like that with certain of my... technological platforms that I'm on right now that they try to lure me in and then feed on me, which is, this is again, deep in many cultures, like a vampire is one example, but even like, I remember as a kid reading Hansel and Gretel and stuff where you go to the beautiful house made of gingerbread and then pretty soon you find yourself being boiled in a pot by a witch.

How is eating related to education? And more generally, how is education about style as opposed to just the transmission of raw knowledge?
