So what does living your calling actually feel like compared to just working?
29:38
You know, what does it feel like? That's a great question.
29:42
And.
29:43
In some ways, it feels absolutely no different.
29:46
And in other ways, it's completely different.
29:50
What I mean by that is, again, there's still, now that I work as a coach and I run my own business and I've got some freedom and some flexibility, I always joke and tell people, the problem with working for yourself is your boss is a jerk.
30:02
You ask your boss for a day off, your boss is like, no, you can't have a day off.
MarkHOST

You

4:44
So what fears did you have to overcome before taking that leap?
4:52
You know, it, it's anytime you start something new or move to something different, I think all of us kind of go through a lot of the same fears.
5:01
Uh, first it's fear of failure.
5:03
You know, am I gonna be able to do this? Am I gonna be able to succeed at it? There's also fear of success that kinda raises its head, this idea of, yeah, but what happens if I do succeed? You know, now I'm gonna have to keep doing it [chuckles] and, and I'm gonna have to make it work.
5:18
And then, of course, there's the dreaded imposter syndrome that I think most people know and deal with, whether you're doing something new or you're doing something that you've done for a long time, that, that feeling that sooner or later people are gonna figure out maybe I really don't know what I'm doing.
5:34
I'm really not as good at this as I think I am, and they're gonna figure it out, and now everyone's gonna know I've, I'm faking it, so to speak.
5:41
That's what imposter syndrome is.

So how do we find this out ourselves?
0:58
So what inspired that mission and why is it more relevant in today's world?
1:04
So I think for a lot of us, it's more relevant in today's world because we're so busy now and the world is so noisy.
1:13
Everything is screaming at us to do this or be this or you're not successful if you don't have this.
1:19
You turn on social media, Instagram, 30 seconds, it's going to tell you all of the 70,000 things that you need to do to be happy.
1:27
You know, we're bombarded with those messages 24-7.
1:32
And the reality is for most of us, the things that we actually care about, the things that we find important, the things that we want to spend our time and our money and our energy on, aren't all of those things, but they distract us from those things.
1:46
And we kind of get out of whack and get out of alignment.

19 MINS LATER

21:07
So now if someone listening feels stuck in a job that no longer fulfills them, but then you're afraid to make a change, what practical step would you encourage them to take?
1:53
Can you please like walk us through your journey and tell us what inspired you to live a stable career and pursue your calling full time?
2:01
Sure.
2:02
I started out, I actually went to school to do medical research.
2:06
I actually did medical research for a short time, figured out that that was really about chasing grant money.
2:11
And I didn't really want to do that my entire life.
2:13
So I pivoted and became a public school teacher.
2:16
I taught middle school.

7:30
Excuse me.
HenryHOST
1:20
What was life like before inspired stewardship?
1:23
Yeah, so like a lot of people, a lot of my journey kind of begins with some what I would call dark night of the soul moments or rough moments.
1:32
So before I go there, I was a teacher.
1:36
Like you said, I was in education.
1:38
I actually went to school to go into medical research.
1:41
I've always liked to help people.
1:43
I've always wanted to make the world better.

Why do so many people feel busy but still unfulfilled?
