to, like, old, like, heritage surveyors is it's really easy to kind of go down the rabbit holes for your own interest but what does it really mean to your client and that's something i think about as well it's like does it really matter if it was built in 1720 or 1650 to my client probably that's
8:05
the thing that's the thing because we're not really looking at that are we we're looking at the condition of the building so yeah you know i i spend and i spend a lot of time doing some research because i have a history section in my report and i i include like old maps extracts of old ordnance survey maps And, you know, just to see how the building has grown and changed over time.
8:25
But I don't technically need to be doing that because that's not really part of the report.
8:30
We're just looking at the condition.
8:31
So you don't really need to be saying, oh, that door is Georgian or, you know, that paneling is 16th century.
8:39
And, you know, and then the building has been adapted this way and that way.
8:41
I mean, it's important to know.

And yeah, you don't mind being there for hours and hours and hours because it is just fascinating.
