Mm

... for each, for the manufacturer in order to share data, right? And so the reason I say it's a limitation is that some manufacturers say, "Well, we'll cover...
36:42
You get to have that connected services for three years, and then after that you have to pay for it." And you know, I think, like, if- If the customer's not doing anything else besides using Recurrent, it's t- it's tough to say, "Oh, I wanna pay $10 a month to just keep on, you know, basically track my data." Some people do, but, um, but y- I, I think ideally you'd wanna get some other benefit out of that connected services plan.
37:05
Um, but I'm hopeful that over time, you know, Tesla makes it free, at least the base level connectivity, which is all we need, um, it makes it free for forever.
37:14
And so, and, uh, I think more and more man- manufacturers are at least giving you the base level connected services for, you know, for the life of the car.
37:22
And then, you know, and then if you wanna sign up for premium XM Radio or- [laughs] ... premium traffic or whatever, then they're, they're charging a little bit for that.
37:30
I, I think that's probably the way things end up.
39:22
Yeah.

And prior to founding the company, I ran North America-wide remarketing at Tesla.
1:22
Scott Case, I'm a battery nerd.
1:25
No, just kidding.
1:26
Yeah, my company Recurrent is like a Carfax report for used electric vehicles, helping people buy and sell, understanding battery range across the retail market.
2:38
There are more than a hundred and thirty-eight thousand registered EVs in King County, according to the Department of Transportation.
2:44
Washington is the best state in the entire country for EV ownership.
2:49
Like, because our electricity is so, uh, relatively cheap and clean, it's almost all hydropower from the Columbia.
3:10
With gas prices up right now, he says EVs make extra mathematical sense.
3:16
So let's say you live in Seattle, and you drive fifty miles a day.
3:20
If you are in a gas car, buying gas, just sort of average fuel efficiency, between gas costs and maintenance costs, you know, you're probably looking at three hundred and fifty dollars a month of sort of fuel and maintenance.
