this event coming up.
4:09
Yeah, so we're going to celebrate our 30 years of advocacy.
4:13
Wow.
4:14
That will happen this Thursday, September 24th.
4:18
Our doors will be open at 2, and then we're going to have presentations from 2.30 to 4, and then from 4 to 6 is just like an open house.
4:30
So we want...
4:32
Lots of people to come to this.

1:54
For someone who's never been to the center before, what kind of services do you offer?
1:58
Okay, we offer core services, which is self advocacy.
2:03
We also have home services.
2:06
So if you need somebody to help you in your home, you can call and we have a list of names that have taken training that we will give you.
2:14
We also do independent living skills.
2:17
So if you need help just with a budget, say you know, make sure these bills are paid first.
2:24
Like we don't take control of the money.

6:41
How has it changed, and is there any changes in the future that you can see?
39:15
Are you seeing this video, Sarah?
39:18
I can see the video.
39:19
I can see the video.
39:21
Luckily, in my 30-year career, I have only seen an instance like this when I was working a flight one time.
39:29
It is horrific.
39:30
It is very, very scary for everyone around us.
39:34
Since 9-11, we actually have the tools of the duct tape and the zip ties.

7 MINS LATER

46:18
And it's just like, what is happening here?
45:45
You'd flown on United Flight 175 just the week before the plane that hit the South Tower of the World Trade Center.
45:55
Yes.
45:56
I was serving as our local vice president in the union and also as our national strike chair, and I had just landed in Chicago to go to a union training.
46:07
So I went to our national office, and we were getting the briefings from United.
46:12
As we were getting all the flights on the ground, we were tracking where all the crews were going and making sure that everyone was on the ground.
46:18
We didn't know how many more flights were in the air that could be affected.
46:24
As it turned out, I got the briefing partway through that morning that it had been Flight 175 that had hit the South Tower of the World Trade Center.
47:43
93 was the flight.

2:21
No big deal.
2:23
There's no cost for that at all.
2:25
We have wheelchairs.
2:26
walkers, um, canes, incontinence pads.
2:31
Um, so we're, you know, we push those a lot.

8:20
Yeah, they
Kari SpencerCORRESPONDENT
20:13
Nelson says all of them were asylum seekers who had permits to legally work here.
20:19
It's really horrifying to go from giving someone psychotherapy to help them cope with past torture, to have them be disappeared into this detention facility where you know that people have been harmed and that people have died and, and, and to not be able to contact them.
Kari SpencerCORRESPONDENT
23:54
She says the Center for Victims of Torture is at capacity.
23:58
We have a wait list.
23:59
Like, pe- more people are coming to our door asking for services, and we can't help them because the people that were, that are currently in our services aren't, aren't getting better.
