But how is the creative process working? different for you and do you have sort of a preference towards one or the other or do they feed different parts of your creative soul
39:39
yeah I actually made a video about this I want to say about a year ago where I explain how writing novels and translating novels are quite similar to each other and I think that's partly what has feeded into me being so fast I've been writing I've been writing one and a half novels a year since the year like 2022.
40:00
I've been writing very quickly.
40:01
I've been pumping them out very quickly.
40:03
But part of it is because I translate light novels at a breakneck speed.
40:06
Also, I have been translating light novels for four years now.
40:10
And I am just about to finish, I think, number 46.

it?

I
11:24
do have some thoughts.
11:25
So on the one hand, Tokusatsu fandom, a lot of that comes from fan subs and non-official subs.
11:35
So you are going to have that subculture where people have really developed that nomenclature, then that sense of solidarity and community around these words.
11:47
Um, so on the one hand you have that and it's really hard to get rid of that.
11:54
So if you are going to do an official translation, say of some classic Tokusatsu stuff and whatever, you do have to think about what is sacred in fan communities.
12:04
Um, A colleague of mine, Katrina Leodakis, ran into this a while ago when she translated Higurashi, When They Cry Go.

But yeah, I gotta make it shorter.
