I grew up in Waniomata, which is a pretty small but tight-knit community.

I grew up around a lot of my family, but most of our family gatherings would just be, you know, in the garage of somebody's house or down at the community hall.

And so I think as I grew up and sort of became exposed to the likes of the Wellington City, sort of the stark contrast between what I grew up around and something that's a bit more extravagant and big.

I think that quite fascinated me and sort of, I guess, became an inspiration of how I could bridge those two experiences, I guess, yeah.

Creating architecture where people can see themselves within communities that they're in and also communities elsewhere.

I think as well, being able to inspire future young Pacific architects coming through, going through architecture school is quite daunting already being a small part, making up a small percentage of Pacifica students in New Zealand.
