I asked Sarah Lyons what these numbers tell us about the state of volunteerism in Canada.

Those statistics are accurate and it's frankly very alarming.

What we're seeing is a fairly precipitous drop in two aspects of volunteerism.

The first one being the percentage of Canadians that volunteer, And the second one is the number of hours that they volunteer.

So we're really seeing a compounded or double crisis.

And it really has effects in a few ways.
