Can this be maybe an opportunity for renewable energy demand to grow?

It is absolutely an opportunity.

Renewable energy is already cheaper than fossil fuel-derived energy in the US, even without subsidies.

So the way we know this is energy costs are typically measured in something called the levelized cost of energy, or the LCOE.

It's basically the average net present cost of generating a single unit of electricity, like a kilowatt hour, over the lifetime of that asset.

And there's an investment bank called Lazard that does an annual analysis comparing the LCOE of different sources of energy.

And around five or seven years ago, we started hitting a tipping point where renewable energy started outperforming fossil fuels.

So the big question is, is this happening? Are the companies that are building these data centers shifting to renewables?
