But how, speaking of mom guilt, like what, how do you? you deal with mom guilt like how do
24:56
you do you get mom guilt as a therapist like i have guilt being here right now like i have guilt all the time i think that that's like part of the balancing act of course like it's a monday my toddler doesn't go to school on mondays and my 11th month old is home so i'm like mondays are mommy days but then what happens inevitably we schedule things or right we want to get lunch with a friend so I think part of the guilt is not letting it steer the bus.
25:24
It's just a passenger in the bus.
25:26
And so that's what I'm moving into right now is it still has to exist with me because I can't solve that problem 100%, but it's not going to be the driving emotion every day.
25:38
I understand that, again, when I go home, I get to be present with them.
25:44
My mommy and me teacher was amazing and she taught us about good enough parenting and basically told us if your child gets 30 minutes of pure uninterrupted time with you, you're not on your phone, it's child led play, that 30 minutes is really going to fill their cup.
26:03
And it's really all they need.
27:14
Do you want to explain it just for anyone? Yeah, for
8:58
explain to someone who's listening that might not know what postpartum rage is, how would you explain it?
9:03
I just think it's like an overwhelming anger and frustration that feels like it physically takes over your mind and body.
9:11
And it doesn't always make sense given like the context.
9:15
So you're overstimulated, you're over-needed, your life has changed so drastically and something little like going to the grocery store takes so much time and energy that can make you rage.
9:30
It doesn't seem like reasonable maybe to somebody on the outside, but that could cause like a full breakdown because everything just feels hard.
9:38
So yeah, like for me, I would just like look at my husband making coffee in the morning and And I felt like I wanted to kill him.
9:46
Not like really, but like, I felt like this instinct of like, I hate him.

17:20
From your standpoint, do you have any like advice or thoughts or anything that you think might help women listening dealing with postpartum right now?
11:36
Right
11:36
... opening my practice when I was postpartum, it was a real choice.
11:40
I- it's because I'm ambitious.
11:41
I love being a mother, but I couldn't stop myself from also opening a business.
11:46
I have 10 employees.
11:47
I'm exhausted.
11:48
I did it to myself, but I couldn't stop myself, you know? 'Cause if you have that giddy-up, like what are you supposed to do about it? But I, I think to your point, it might have been simpler, but I also, like I, I don't know.

17:15
How would you recommend someone who's not aware of that, like, how would they try to fix something like that?
2:33
dad and my husband to stop going on their phones in front of my son
2:37
yeah so okay here's where i'll start i think it's very tough to tell a child not to do something that we are modeling ourselves so if you're always on your phone in front of your kid or your computer or whatever and then you're telling your child that they can't have screen time like we have to examine that piece separately but that aside i believe in screen time i don't think it's a big deal for your child to have like some time to decompress to watch their favorite show uh you know All of that is kind of normal.
3:09
They live in the real world.
3:11
There's screens around them all the time.
3:13
So I am very for it.
3:15
And again, I'm a psychologist.
3:16
I'm not a child specialist by any means.

7 MINS LATER

9:57
that.
